If you worked your butt off to get a rare mini by any means (other than hacking an account) then congratulations to you. It's nice to have goals.
And many of the super rare minis came out long before Eye of the North.

I have already dedicated my miniature Greased and Black Moa, and I am going to go ahead and also dedicate a Mad King, Gwen Doll, Yakkington, Bone Dragon, MOX, Mallyx, and Eye of Janthir, and potentially a Dhuum if I find the cash.
Try to stop me.

The dedicating isn't what's pointless - just expecting that it will do something for you in GW2. I do expect the gap between ded and unded prices to reduce, but not disappear entirely.

Hahahaha!!!!
Now thats a huge kick in the Groin to a lot of people with Perma lvl 20 characters in Pre Searing.

You know very full well that a fix for perma pre-toons to register their Title whilst remaining in pre was talked about over a year ago.
But hey lets chuck in about your wanting to gouge some (probably expensive) mini-pets which is really a completely different kettle of fish. It's not like you'll be unable to sell your mini's after you dedicate them.
|
Aside from the jungle troll and hydra that I sold the other night for 9k less than the competition, I don't sell minis. Ask anyone that knows me or has tried to pry certain ones from my hands. I couldn't care less about what they are worth to other players in a dedicated or undedicated state.
I have some things that I also hold near and dear to my heart. Lots of people do. You don't want to leave pre-searing and I would prefer that my trinkets remain unaltered. My reasons are irrelevant. Trust me, it's definitely not because I plan to sell them.
I'm not sure if they forgot about it or decided against allowing perma-pre characters to put statues in the HoM from pre-searing, but it's not an option right now. I wasn't trying to troll. It was my smartass way of saying that you're probably gonna have to make a sacrifice if you really want that to count as a point towards your rewards. With so many other statues that you could put in, why even consider that one? If it's not even about points... my bad!
I have a perma-pre that I don't plan on moving either. You wouldn't believe how bummed I was when I started playing and someone dragged me to post. I probably spent an hour wandering around and getting owned by bugs in hopes of finding a portal or NPC that would allow me to go back.

Shayne the only way I can think of stopping is asking you to give me your Gwen Doll
But more seriously : not a lot of people really thought that the mini points would be based on the mini itself and not it's rarity (white, purple, gold, green).

I think he's trying to say that some of the rarest minis are worth millions of gold, yet it was basically worthless to dedicate them at your HoM (thereby making them worth a lot less)
I think what's more interesting is if, now that we see what exactly our HoM rewards will be, if the price difference between the rarest minis' undedicated and dedicated forms will narrow.

Yes... I suspect the value of sought-after mini's will depend almost entirely on their rarity and desirability... and very little on ded/unded.
Anybody can get a Black Moa mini (green), and a Celestial mini in February (gold), and a bunch of trashy mini's to get the full HoM rewards. So it's suddenly a lot less important whether a valuable mini is ded or unded. Sought-after mini's... will remain sought-after AND HIGHLY VALUABLE. It's like turning the clock back to before EotN, when there was no such thing as ded/unded.
So there's no gloating to be done: those people who dedicated their valuable mini's... probably just saw their value soar, right back to what they used to be worth unded.
A-net just made them rich again!

Mmm, I already have about 26 maxed and I added them all to my HOM, but for some reason the HOM reward calculator won't see this and says I only maxed 13 titles! The same goes for some hero armor and some mini pets.
Any idea how I can fix this?

If you've only just added them... I find that logging out of GW and logging back in again, usually triggers the calculator to refresh its info.

Yes, the site updates on log-out, so you will need to do that before the site updates. You only need to go as far as the character select screen, but you will need to log before you see any changes.

Eh, I don't know, I still like to dedicate my minis myself. I like the knowledge that they are all in there in that HoM, even though now I know it's "useless" as I've already got over 50 of them.

will it just need log out, or do you need to shut GW itself?
now i know why i got a few more things done in GW, but the calculator gave much more, which i did a day before
thanks for the info
btw, i love that i got that cat easily, and as i dont do much atm, i got 18 points, but certainly will go at least for the raccoon
oppressor weapons, i may get the shield for hayda, because i have no interest in a weapon of those for myself
its too bad that green minis are just as much as white ones, on the other hand, i had some minis i wanted to keep, and can sell my white ones for nice price
other than that, i like this calculator
good job anet

Anet never said there was any need to dedicate very rare minis. So many assumptions were made about the HOM that they just ended up becoming incorrect facts over time.

You can always go for the mini Black Moa (green mini)... it still costs a little, but basically it's a nice little quest chain with the green mini as a reward.

I dedicated at least one of the ones I got (have a few duplicates) and would love to have some of the really really limited ones because I LIKE them even if they were dedicated---the panda is just toooo CUTE!!!!! (dont care my rats behind about gw2 rewards for having such and such---though glad they did it for those who do)

Why is it that having minis you like and enjoy isn't enough? Why does there always have to be some other reward for people to assign "worth" to anything?

Had a pig for gold and a bone dragon for green so economic impact very low for me I just need to search for more low end ones
